Word around the web is that mom's who work from home are not truely working. Some say that mom's that work from home are just desperate, lazy and will do anything to act as though they are working and contributing.
A lot of people feel that mom's who work outside the home work much harder and earn an honest living. We all have our opinions on this and I want to hear em!
I have written about this on Associated Content and am waiting the results from my viewers. I am very excited to learn what they think about this topic. I am working on creating an online forum that is dedicated specifically to ALL working mom's. I want to hear everyone's voice and opinion on this subject and would love for ALL mom's to have the opportunity to address their feelings on this to one another.
I am also going to be conducting surveys with real work at home mom's and outside working mom's. I want to learn what they have to say as well. In the near future, I will also be conducting live interviews with local companies to see how they feel about work at home mom's. I would like to know if they feel a mom who works from home is just as beneficial to them as a mom who works on site. I will also do a survey to see if they feel they are an equal opportunity employer if they DON'T offer work at home opportunities.
I have worked from my home successfully for over 6 years. I have done lots of different hourly jobs, commission jobs, businesses and telemarketing. I will say it is a lot harder than walking down the street and gettting a job, but I feel they both have ups and downs and pros and cons.
My opinion is if a mom works, she works hard. It doesn't matter if you work in your home office or an on site office. Work is work. I feel that a mom could be lazy and slack on site just as at home if she wanted to. This is my opinion and I have worked both on site and from home. In some ways, working from home is harder especially if you have kids and or a family.
My opinion on companies offering work at home opportunities? I feel that if they say they are an EOE and DON'T offer a work from home opportunity, who are they being equal to? How are they equal? Not everyone can work outside the home and for some, it is impossible. There are many people who would work if they were given the opportunity to work from their home office and because it is not offered with each company, they are finding other ways to survive such as, government funds and homes. If there were more "equal" opportunities out there, maybe our increase in government funding could decrease and the work force could increase.
I also feel that hiring a work at home agent saves a company a whole lot of time and money. It is extremely beneficial for a company, especially a large one and or a corporation to hire home agents.
This is a topic that we will get into more over time and through my research and surveys. I will also have individual topics on my forum to allow everyone to read and talk about the topic of their choice.
For now, voice your opinion, tell me what you think about these topics.
Does a mom who works from home work as hard as a mom outside the home? Is the work as honorable from home as it is outside the home? Is a work at home mom contributing just the same as a mom who works outside the home?
Is a company an EOE if they do NOT offer work at home opportunities? Do you think a company would benefit more from a work at home agent or an on site agent?
Do you think all companies should at least offer a work from home opportunity?
Do you think a mom who has a Masters Degree in Human Services and 1 year home office experience should get the job in Human Services or should the mom who has no degree, but has worked in the Human Services field on site for 7 years get the job?
